Tel Design LLC now supports and maintains 29 schools' phone systems in the
Scottsdale School District. They were recently awarded the bid to install six new
systems into the following schools: Arcadia High School, Chaparral High School,
Coronado High School, Desert Mountain High School, Mohave Middle School, and
Supai Middle School.
One challenge Tel Design had to tackle initially was the district's request that 911
Emergency Identification be displayed on every telephone in the system. Until
now, when someone in the school dialed 911, the extension or telephone from
which it was dialed was only displayed on the main attendant's or receptionist's
telephone display. Tel Design worked closely with Iwatsu, the manufacturer of the
phone systems, to achieve the goal of having the origination of a 911 call displayed
on each and every telephone equipped with an LCD screen. The importance of this
feature can be understood with the recollection of tragic events that have occurred
in schools recently.
Tel Design, partnered with Iwatsu, will continue searching for new ways to
improve telecommunications in standard and emergency situations.
